The trick of course is to be present in some portion of each day, so our days don’t all go into “blur”.
We know “BLUR”. It’s when we have some sense of our life, but it gets fuzzy when it’s filled with too much “do” and not enough “be”.
So, periodically, just pause. Breathe. Look around. Now.
Feel better? A little calmer?
That’s the trick.

Over scheduled?
Expecting yourself to get it all done?
Get real.
Some things take twice as long as you think they will.
Quit hoping this is not true, and count on it being so.
The flip side is also true.
Some things take the amount of time you have to do them in.
You’ve got 30 minutes to pack for a trip?
Amazing how it takes 30 minutes.
Get Clear.
It’s the old priority issue.
Keep asking – “Really, just how important is this!!?”
Maybe it needn’t be done at all…

Don’t Do Yourself In
Show of hands.
Who wants to do a great job, yet have a life too?
I thought so.
Here’s what I know.
Your job will take as much of your energy as you will give it.
My advice: give it your best, but not your all.
Overwork doesn’t work.
It’s in the best interest of no one.
Quality goes down.
Productivity follows quality in the downward dip.
Recently in my stress class in corporate America, several students
said they don’t take their breaks. Nor lunch. Hardly ever.
And when I sent them outside on a 20 minute Me-Act break, several came back to say that other employees asked them what they were doing outside. Implied message: doing nothing?
Many who came back said they felt guilty taking the time. (THAT is a topic for another day…)
Yikes.
TAKE A BREAK ALREADY.
If you don’t think enough of your self to take care of you, who is it you have put in charge of this?
Rise up off that chair and leave the building please.
